2014 Price of Freedom Scholarship Recipients

Thanks to the help of Mark’s good friend and teammate Johnnie Yellock II, The Mark Forester Foundation was able to provide three college scholarships this year. They were presented at Haleyville High School on May 19 by Mark’s sister Terri, and dad Ray, to the students below:

Chau Huynh
Cade Minor
Winston Barton

Johnnie raised money by walking 33 miles in The Mark Forester 33-mile Memorial Birthday Walk on May 17. This was the first year he was able to participate since he and his team were hit by an IED in Afghanistan in 2011. 28 surgeries later, and after lots of therapy, he was able to make the entire walk without any serious problems. He alone raised $6000, which paid for the scholarships this year. We are grateful because each of this year’s recipients were very deserving.

Below is Johnnie II and his dad Johnnie (Chief) after Mark’s walk on May 17. Chief Yellock completed the entire walk as well. He said if his son could do it, then he could do it.
